Leading the way on local service integration
Mears is at the forefront of service integration to support the Personalisation Agenda and in the delivery of fully integrated local services. Back in 2007 Mears moved into domiciliary care provision with a major acquisition, in 2010 it increased its footprint in the sector and established a fully nationwide care service under the Mears brand. 2011 sees Mears moving into Home Improvements which will be the umbrella for expanding handyman services and home aids and adaptations to more people in more geographic areas.
If people are to continue living independently in their own homes into old age they need a broad range of support services which may include elements of social care-services, healthcare-services, housing repairs and maintenance, telecare-services, aids and adaptations.
Mears Home Improvement, which has local operations around the country, provides a practical range of services, including handyman, home adaptations, repairs, safety checks, signposting to services and advice on accessing benefits and grants.
Home Improvement services are provided under an agreement with the Local Authority which monitors the service quality and delivery. It is a low cost - and in some circumstances no cost - solution for older people, or people with disabilities. People who are no longer able to fully maintain their homes, or who need the installation of specialist equipment to enhance their independence.
Mears Home Improvement works in close conjunction with local professionals in the housing, care-services and healthcare-services sectors, such as Occupational Therapists, and with charities and support groups for people with specific needs.
